If you have been attempting to access the uberkewl websites recently you probably weren't very successful. I apologise for the downtime, BUT it was worth it. The uberkewl network was the recipient of a very generous donation of a Cisco PIX 506E hardware firewall and a Cisco 4700-M router. The donation was courtesy of our friend, x86! So we spent some time setting it all up and getting it working again! YAY!
Back to School, Again... 01.14.2008
Well it is that time again... AGAIN... New semester, new classes, new instructors, new opportunities. Calculus II, Statistics, Western Civilization to 1500, World Cultures. Another full schedule. The classes should be interesting. Hopefully next semester will be more fun. No Comp Sci classes this semester and it pains me. I am going into coding withdrawal already.

I passed all my classes, I didn't do as well as I would have liked to, but we can't always get what we want, but if we try some time, we'll find, we get what we need. Sorry I don't know what has gotten into me... all those music lyrics... anywho YAY NO MORE PHYSICS!!! You better back up, I am keeping my nerd club card. I just don't care for Physics. At least I don't care for having to work the problems manually... after all I am a computer scientist... So yea it is Winter break and I'll be hangin' out in Indianapolis for a couple weeks probably... but I have to be back home the 3rd of January so that I can schedule my last 2 classes for next semester. I have already signed up for Calculus II (again) and Statistics. Being in Calculus at 8:00 am should make for a fun semester... who in their right mind wants to teach Calculus at 8:00 am? Besides Pat Ward? :)

The fall semester is coming to a close. I took a computer science class this semester (imagine that) called Information Assurance and Security. Since it is a 300 level class I was required to do a semester project relating to material that we covered in class. I decided to write a password manager application in Java using Swing and the Java Cryptography Extensions. The application uses 3DES symmetric key cryptography to store the logon/password data in unreadable ciphertext. I presented that project to the class tonight and I am releasing the application as open source software under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License. Summer Break Ends 08.20.2007
Illinois State University's classes have started. Summer break is officially over. I know this to be true because at 9:20 a.m. central time I was in my Calculus II class and we were given homework. I think there should be a rule against homework on the first day of class... oh well guess I better get crackin'. This means that updates to this website will be much slower because I will not have alot of spare time. I have so much more stuff to add... oh well.
New Standards Compliant Design! 08.18.2007
Uberkewl.Net has been given another facelift and a sleek fast standards compliant design. The previous design was heavy and relied upon tables for formatting. This new design is pure XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS. It should render the same (almost) on all the browsers so that everyone will literally be on the same page :)
Camping at Evergreen Lake 08.14.2007
Some of my friends and I went camping last weekend at Evergreen Lake again. We had alot of fun. For some reason the park's powers that be decided that the lake's swimming pond should be open only on weekends and this put off a few of my friends who reserved the camp site starting last Thursday with the intention of hanging out in the water. It was a bummer for them at the time but we all had a good time anyway!

My friends Debbie, Mark, Zack, Linda and Doug and I went camping at Evergreen Lake last weekend. We had a blast except that Debbie and I got sunburned pretty bad and I definitely won the sunburn prize. I ride my mountain bike alot but I always wear shoes for that activity so my legs were used to the sun, but my feet were white as a ghost. My feet are no longer white... they are lobster red and I don't think I will be able to wear shoes for a week. I took some pics of the lake and campgrounds which I am going to share on my Photos page, so check them out there!

What a rush! Yea, I was there baby! My Son, Rob, his friend Lars, and myself made the road trip to Indianapolis, Indiana on Father's Day weekend. Sadly it was the last time a Formula 1 race will be run in the United States for a long time. Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Formula 1 people could not reach an amicable agreement so the IMS contract was not renewed. Anyway as most of you already know Lewis Hamilton with McLaren-Mercedes ran away with the prize. I have some pics and some video to share! Enjoy!

My son Rob pestered me until I relented... I swear that is my story and I am sticking to it! I had a MySpace page but I didn't really do anything with it until my son sent me a message stating "What good is the page if you don't do anything with it?" or something to that effect and probably much more colorful language. So I decided to create this Half-Life 2 themed page. :)

On May 14, 2006, I graduated from Illinois Central College and received my Associates of Arts and Science in Computer Information Systems with a Technical Emphasis degree. (Say that five times real fast) Shortly after this momentous occasion, I was accepted into the Computer Science program at Illinois State University where I will be attending classes beginning August 21, 2006. Since ISU is located in Normal, Illinois, I had to relocate and moved to Bloomington, Illinois so that I could be somewhere closer to Normal. (pun intended)

The Uberkewl IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Server is up and running. People interested in hanging out on the server are welcome to join . The server address is irc.uberkewl.net the port to use is 6667. The IRC server is supported by services such as a nickname server to protect your nicks, a channel server to protect your channels, a memo server that allows you to leave messages for people on the server when they aren't there and more. Uberkewl Network Web Site Back in Business 04.01.2006
The Uberkewl Network web site is back! Shocking isn't it?! (LoL) My previous site depended on the kindness of a company that decided it didn't want to be kind anymore, so I lost the static IP address that it relied upon. To make a long story short, it is back up and will only be down for a short while when I have to relocate for school (Bachelors). After that it won't be coming down for a couple years, and then only when I have to relocate again (Masters). So it should be here until no one cares that it is here. :) (including me) The Electrifying new design is by yours truly.
